Usagi's a Model: The Flash of the Monster Camera

Star-struck by award-winning young photographer Kijin Shinokawa, Usagi enters his model search hoping to launch a modeling career. She never learns that Nephrite has cornered the boy on a cliff and sealed a youma inside his camera, twisting him into a threat. At the shoot, the enchanted lens starts locking girls away inside photographs, and Sailor Moon has to turn the creature's own trick against it to rescue everyone caught.

Usagi wins a spot at the photo session and turns up in a moth-eaten swimsuit patched with bows. Luna grows uneasy as Kijin's manner darkens, then watches models vanish the instant their picture is taken. She urges Usagi to transform, but the boy fires beams from the camera before the youma Kyameran fully manifests. When it uses Shutter Click, Luna leaps in and is sealed away in Usagi's place.

Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars arrive, yet Kyameran deflects their Bubble Spray and Akuryo Taisan and traps them as well. Recalling that the monster's victims are held inside the pictures, Sailor Moon dodges a beam so it ricochets off a mirror into Kyameran, then finishes it with Moon Tiara Action, freeing every captured soul.

The installment debuts the guardians' Communicators and the Sailor Moon Kick attack. While possessed, Kijin keeps repeating "art is a bomb," a twist on artist Taro Okamoto's famous "art is an explosion." The Thai dub heavily censored the swimsuit scenes with mosaic blurring. In the DiC dub, Kijin's closing remark about a special girl is rewritten so his renamed character claims to seek a girl who calls herself a moon princess, prompting Usagi's family to scoff at the idea.
