Gameplay

Players clear board stages by matching three or more crystals of the same shape and color, with some stages capped by a move limit and others by a timer instead. Progress unlocks new poses and attacks for a chosen Sailor Guardian, optional paid gems grant extra moves or time, and the game supports both cooperative and competitive multiplayer.

Story and Development

Developed by Beeline Interactive and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game follows the plot of the original Sailor Moon anime across five map chapters, one per season, using short animated cutscenes to introduce characters and key story beats. It launched in Japan on September 3, 2015, and reached English-speaking markets in April 2016, part of the franchise's 25th anniversary push.

Reception and Shutdown

Common Sense Media gave the game 4 out of 5 stars, calling it a nostalgic, well-made puzzle title. Bandai Namco announced on January 28, 2019, that it would end service, and despite a fan petition asking the company to reconsider, Sailor Moon Drops shut down on March 28, 2019.
