Communicator

Across every version of the story, communicators exist so the Sailor Guardians can reach each other quickly. The concept recurs throughout the franchise, but its exact form differs depending on which continuity is telling the tale.

In the manga the team carries wristwatch-style units for voice contact, appearing in two separate sets, the first drawn straight from the Sailor V game and the second issued after Chibiusa joined them. The 1990s anime likewise ran through two designs: a flat, computerlike handheld that Luna built and distributed early on, then later wristwatch models handed out with the Star Power Sticks, their faces styled after Sailor Moon's Crystal Star. Uranus and Neptune carried their own matching clamshell versions bearing their planetary symbols. Sailor Moon Crystal follows a similar path, giving the team wristwatch communicators alongside their Star Power Sticks, with even Mamoru shown owning one. The live-action series takes a different route entirely, replacing the gadgets with regular cell phones dubbed Teletia S, which double as disguise tools by photographing a person and letting a Guardian mimic that exact appearance.

The Sailor Guardians as a whole are the primary users, with Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter among the first to receive the early anime models. In the manga and Crystal continuities Mamoru Chiba also carries a communicator, and the outer Guardians Uranus and Neptune keep a private pair for coordinating between themselves.
