Sailor Star Tambourine

The Sailor Star Tambourines are combat items found only in the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, presented to the Inner Sailor Guardians as a gift from Artemis. Each guardian receives one to amplify her fighting power.

The guardians use the tambourines to concentrate their energy, strengthen their strikes, and launch combined group assaults. Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury each gain a signature move through theirs, Jupiter Thunderbolt and Mercury Aqua Storm, while Mars once channels an especially fierce Youma Taisan with hers. The devices can also reshape into melee arms: a sword for Mercury, a spear for Jupiter, and daggers for Mars and Venus. Beyond that, they can fire star-shaped bolts of energy tinted in each guardian's theme color, and they can funnel power into Sailor Moon much as the guardians do back in the anime.

The four Inner Guardians wield the tambourines. Makoto famously flagged down a taxi with hers before learning its real purpose. Ami was the last to put hers to use, since she was still Dark Mercury when the gifts were handed out. Mars and Venus stand out as the only pair to fight with two at once: Rei carries both her own and Minako's in the Final Act, and Minako returns the favor in the Special Act, each time while her counterpart lay gravely hurt or gone.
