Munehisa Sakai is a Japanese anime director whose credits include directing portions of Sailor Moon Crystal, the 2014 revival series, during his years at Toei Animation.
Sakai directed segments of Sailor Moon Crystal, the digitally animated 2014 reboot of the franchise, during his tenure at Toei Animation. His work on the revival came alongside other directing credits from the same period, including stretches of One Piece and Suite PreCure.
Sakai spent 1992 through 2017 at Toei Animation before moving to MAPPA, where he took the director's chair on Zombie Land Saga, the mobile game adaptation Mr Love: Queen's Choice, and the figure-skating drama Dance Dance Danseur. He joined Studio Kai in 2022 and has continued working there since.
