Aoi Sakamoto

Aoi is a woman in her mid-twenties, most often found in the green apron of the shop she runs. Her long black hair is pinned at the front and gathered into a bun at the back, with bangs falling past her chin and a loose strand hanging down her right side. Large dark eyes and a small beauty mark beneath her left cheek round out a face of average height and easy warmth.

Loving and attentive by nature, Aoi can also swing to extremes when she wants to drive a point home. Certain of her husband's strength and of the bond between them, she lives with almost reckless calm, making bold choices even when danger is near. She knows this streak leaves her careless at times, but she offsets it with unshakable confidence and hope, and she treats the household's rules as something close to sacred.

The two met at a convenience store, where Sakamoto fell for her at once and the pair soon began dating. He was still an Order assassin then, and his careless attitude toward killing wore on her until she threw herself from a balcony to force him to feel the terror of losing someone. He caught her, and the stunt drove home a lesson: she made him swear never to take another life and to spend his own repaying the deaths he had caused. So taken with her, Sakamoto walked away from the Order for good. They married, opened a small store on the edge of Tokyo, and had their daughter Hana, while the retired killer let his once-lethal body soften into comfortable middle age.
