Small and slight with a childlike air, Atari has wide black eyes and short pink hair whose bangs fall across her face, the length gathered into long pigtails tied off with black ribbons. She wears a dark brown shirt whose sleeves stretch down over her palms, grayish-blue baggy pants held by a lilac belt with a golden buckle, and pale velcro shoes over white socks. Fluffy white cuffs circle her wrists, and assorted rings in gray, navy, lilac, and black decorate the fingers of both hands.

Atari filters nearly everything through her gift, which leaves her strangely picky. She turns down video games and home cooking because she already knows exactly how they will turn out. She shows scant regard for anyone else, once stubbing a cigarette out on a guard's palm and blaming the misfortune she claimed to read in the lines of his hand. Cool and unbothered even around death, she greets her own accurate readings with little more than a flat reminder that she was right, and she stayed serenely certain she would soon walk free because her prince in shining armor was on the way.

For a long stretch Atari quietly guided the JAA as its fortune teller, and her readings proved so reliable that most of the group's decisions ran through her. Her existence was kept hidden so the organization would not appear dependent on a single esper, known only to a chosen few. Her talent lets her foresee her own future precisely enough to always pick the ideal move; by Kindaka's account she held a perfect accuracy record and shaped roughly eighty percent of the JAA's choices, and she could reportedly stroll across a battlefield without a bullet touching her. When a band of assassins once schemed to kill her, every one of them died of oyster poisoning the day before the attempt. Her streak finally broke on predictions about Slur, and the resulting fear that she had turned traitor saw her locked away on the lowest floor of the JAA jail.
