Daikyo

Black hair sits above the standard uniform Daikyo wears while on duty at the prison. In combat he carries a three-spiked push dagger, a curved grip whose three points jut out from between the fingers when the fist closes around it.

On the surface Daikyo comes across as clumsy and prone to shouting at whatever unfolds around him, and unlike his steadier colleague he grows anxious the moment violence looms. That timid streak vanishes once Tenkyu reveals himself as the real danger, at which point Daikyo's sense of duty toward Hoshi and Atari hardens him into a grim fighter set on cutting the intruder down.

Stationed on the lowest floors of JAA Jail, Daikyo helped watch over the inmate Atari. She once coaxed him into showing his palm, then burned it with a cigarette while claiming she was rewriting his unlucky lines; moments later a phone call told him his grandmother's hernia had healed and that he had taken first prize in a lottery. Warned that misfortune was closing in on them, he backed the plan to break out of the prison, only to run straight into the Great Misfortune himself. Daikyo threw the opening punch at Tenkyu without warning and gave the clash everything he had, buying Hoshi and Atari time to flee. His posting in so lethal a workplace marks him as a capable combatant, yet it was not enough, and he died in the attempt.
