The premiere establishes Taro Sakamoto, an assassin so formidable that every wrongdoer feared him, and the choice that changed his life. Struck by love at first sight for Aoi, a woman working behind a convenience store counter, he walked away from killing without a second thought. Marriage and the birth of his daughter followed, and the man who now runs a small neighborhood shop has grown so heavy that little of his old self remains.

That quiet stretch of ordinary days ends when Shin, a former junior from his assassin years, shows up with a request for him to return to the trade. The visit reignites the danger Sakamoto left behind, and the legendary battle of the ex-killer to shield his beloved family finally gets under way.

Sakamoto's past as a dreaded assassin and his retirement after falling for Aoi are laid out, along with his transformed civilian life.

Shin Asakura arrives and urges Sakamoto to take up the assassin's work once more, setting the series in motion.

Taro Sakamoto, Shin Asakura, Aoi Sakamoto, and Hana Sakamoto all make their first appearances.

The episode belongs to the Amusement Park Arc and adapts the manga's opening chapter. It first aired on January 11, 2025, with Hashire Sakamoto as its opening theme and Futsū as the ending.

Several changes separate the adaptation from the manga. In a flashback to his hitman days, the anime has Sakamoto dispatch a target with a broken pipe where the manga used a knife decapitation, and both Shin's clash with the boss's henchmen and Sakamoto's own fight are drawn out longer on screen.
