The survivors wash ashore and roll into a third exam round, joined by three recommended prodigies. Among them is Toramaru, a fanatical Sakamoto worshipper whose adoration immediately sets her against Shin.
Having weathered Kanaguri's rampage and the plane's destruction, Sakamoto's group clears the hastily arranged second round thanks to Akira's efforts and lands on an island for the next stage. Three recommended entrants join the field: Kaji, Toramaru, and Shinaya. In a tense atmosphere the third exam gets under way. Toramaru, who has turned Sakamoto into an object of worship and even totes a handmade doll of him, comes out swinging from the start and butts heads with Shin and the others.
Joichiro Kaji and Shinaya make their debuts alongside the fully introduced Toramaru. Usami lays out the round's rules, dividing entrants into colored teams for a game of tail tag in which a candidate is out once their ribbon is taken. Toramaru attacks Jay Erk on arrival and reveals the doll is modeled on Sakamoto, unsettling the group. Out on the course, Sakamoto guides the anxious Akira, recalling how her relative Rion once taught him to shoot, while Shin, Mafuyu, and Kaji navigate the forest under Toramaru's aggression.
The adaptation adds connective staging throughout, from a crab skittering past the wrecked camera to rafts ferrying the three recommended entrants ashore and graphics of the team ribbons. It reshuffles who stands beside whom in many crowd shots and expands Sakamoto's flashback of Rion's shooting lesson. Exam, Stage Three adapts chapters 62 through 64, aired on September 1, 2025, and belongs to the JCC Transfer Exams Arc under the themes Method and Dandelion.
