Chapter 142

Searching for the others, Shin comes across Kaji unconscious on the floor and hurries over in alarm to ask what went wrong. Kaji manages to warn that Mafuyu is present and that a bomb has been set in Mafuyu's bedroom. Kashima then breaks in to correct him, explaining the device is actually embedded in Mafuyu's foot.

Because the foot is too small for the sensor to register, Kashima notes, the blast would reach only about four meters, and the bomb is rigged to trigger the instant its host dies. Shin tells him not to worry, reasoning it will only go off if Mafuyu deliberately takes his own life, and Kashima assures him the situation is contained.

Shin tracks Mafuyu down and confronts him head on, warning him to surrender or be taken by force. The two come to blows, and Mafuyu opens strong with heavy strikes, though Shin holds firm. Amid the exchange, Mafuyu lets slip details about Uzuki, revealing that the only path into the Order is to defeat one of its members. As the fight continues, the JAA chairman finally enters the building.
