Summary

After discovering that Tenkyu would gladly murder Aoi and Hana Sakamoto, Shin resolves to kill him even though it defies the family's rules. He snaps off a length of pipe and presses his attack until Heisuke's gunfire cuts in and lets Tenkyu slip away. The two friends clash over the choice, with Shin warning of catastrophe if Tenkyu roams free, and Heisuke reminding him how much they both changed once Sakamoto entered their lives.

Fleeing and dwelling on Shin and Uzuki, Tenkyu puzzles over why he keeps provoking people and why he even craves companionship. A wall suddenly blows apart beside him, flinging out Atari, whose careless smoking during a gas leak triggered the blast, along with Daikyo and Hoshi. Meeting his gaze, Atari declares that he is no knight in shining armor to her but instead the great misfortune. Daikyo orders Hoshi to carry Atari far away, then moves on Tenkyu, who declines to defend himself, until Shin stops him short.

When Shin and Heisuke hurry over to check on Tenkyu, Atari finally recognizes her rescuing knight. Spotting the untouched weapon, Shin asks why Tenkyu held back, and Tenkyu recalls Uzuki's promise of forgiveness so long as he refrains from killing, confessing that he envies the bond between Shin and Heisuke. Shin, thinking him hopelessly naive, weighs Heisuke's belief that Tenkyu might yet change. Then Hoshi demands to know their identities, and Shin's claim to be the association's fortune teller collapses when Hoshi points to Atari as the real esper and Daikyo names the pair as Sakamoto's allies. Realizing the deception, Tenkyu looses an arrow that cleaves Daikyo in two.
