Assassin Leader

Rimless glasses and two earrings in his left ear, a lobe ring topped by a stud, lend the Assassin Leader the polished look of an executive rather than a hired gun. He dresses the part as well, pairing a gray turtleneck with a black suit that carries a pen in its breast pocket.

Physically he is tall and lean, his black hair cropped into a buzz cut, with olive green eyes and a line of stubble tracing from his sideburns down to his chin.

The Leader treats killing the way an executive treats a market. Profit drives him, negotiation always stays on the table, and he will pitch a financial arrangement to an opponent mid-combat, a habit Matthew McMahon calls out directly. That mercantile streak coexists with real charisma; he is the one figure capable of binding a pack of rival contractors to a single plan.

His professionalism has teeth. When one hire proposes slaughtering every woman with a baby aboard the ship to guarantee the kill, the Leader executes him, declaring that their trade runs on trust rather than senseless carnage. He honors contracts with the same rigor, pressing toward his target even after taking a serious wound. Yet the camaraderie only stretches as far as his own survival: the moment Snoops's betrayal threatens him, the composed businessman turns on his former colleague without hesitation.

After Leonardo Hapoon wrests control of the Gretcher crime family, a bounty lands on the survivors, Olka Gretcher and her infant son Gram. Hapoon retains the Leader to keep order among the hired killers. Preparing for the hunt, he buys intelligence from the informant later nicknamed Snoops and visits the Gretcher manor to commit Olka's scent to memory, putting his extraordinary nose to work.

Learning that Olka plans to flee the country on the Princess Lorelei, he boards with his team and imposes ground rules after one member botches an early ambush: no infighting, an even split of the bounty, and shared information. Olka keeps slipping away under Yor Forger's secret protection, but the Leader reads her abandoned cabin by smell, deducing a change of disguise and a bodyguard who leaves no scent at all, and predicts an escape attempt on the second night. His roof-deck ambush collapses when Yor and Matthew McMahon cut down most of his force. Stalling with a lecture on money as power, he buys time for the Swordsman to strike, then offers Yor a cut of the bounty to stand aside. She refuses, halts his lunge toward the Gretchers with a thrown earring, and kills the Swordsman, while a recovering Matthew shoots and wounds him, forcing a retreat.

Still fixed on the contract, the injured Leader detects explosives inside the ship and traces them to Snoops, who has rigged the vessel with bombs disguised as Westalian weaponry to ignite a new war. Their confrontation on a raft turns violent once Snoops admits his escape plan seats exactly one. Loid Forger ends the argument by hurling one of the bombs at them; the blast throws both men into the sea, where they are last glimpsed treading water inside a closing ring of sharks.
