Behind one of Ostania's biggest military contractors stands Byron Blackbell, chief executive of Blackbell Heavy Industries and, more importantly to him, father of Becky. His boardroom authority evaporates around his daughter, whom he spoils so recklessly that his wife and butler must rein him in.
A walrus moustache is Byron's most recognizable feature. Middle age and considerable height give him presence, and his short dark brown hair falls in uneven bangs brushed to one side, much like his daughter's. Narrow eyes with double eyelids sit beneath brows that are thin and short.
His usual outfit is a suit in dark brown, finished with a necktie patterned with military aircraft and, on the left lapel, a pin shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse.
Within Ostania's arms industry Byron is a man of real consequence, yet none of that professional weight survives contact with Becky. His devotion to her runs past doting into outright indulgence: lavish presents arrive constantly, and corporate influence has been bent toward granting her whims. Actual discipline is left almost entirely to the family's veteran servant, Martha Marriott, and though Becky's early arrogance genuinely startled him, his instinct is to enable rather than correct.
That same instinct turns dangerous under stress. When the Red Circus seized his daughter's school bus, a panicked Byron demanded his company's tanks and fighter jets be dispatched to the scene and seemed ready to level the city for her sake, forcing his wife and Martha to restrain him physically and verbally. He occupies a social tier comparable to the politician Donovan Desmond but shares none of that man's coldness; where Desmond is rigid, Byron is openly affectionate and leans on Becky emotionally. He grows visibly wounded whenever she turns to other adults such as Yor Forger for guidance or voices admiration for Loid Forger, and he once tried to sit in on a fortune-telling session purely to have his compatibility with his daughter read. Running a company plainly comes second to being the most important person in Becky's world.
Byron's household consists of his wife and their daughter Becky, whom he has showered with rewards for years, among them a tiara set with genuine gems, a pink tank, and a smaller house all her own. He also raised her on the idea that nothing below the finest quality suits a Blackbell. Work keeps father and daughter apart more than he would like, so he takes whatever time with her he can get.
His first appearance in person comes during the Red Circus's seizure of the Eden Academy buses. Byron arrives at the standoff without his wife, insisting he would never bring her somewhere so dangerous, and promptly loses his composure, ordering the entire Blackbell arsenal mobilized until Martha hauls him back to his senses. Once the crisis ends and Becky is returned safely, he suggests heading straight home so her anxious mother can see her unharmed and stop worrying.

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
