Demetrius Desmond

Height and a slim frame give Demetrius the look of a younger Donovan, his father, though in gloomier moods he echoes his mother Melinda instead. His dark brown hair, medium length and faintly curly, is combed back at school and left down at home, where loose strands curl along his hairline much as his father once wore them; the anime shades the color toward greenish brown. His skin is fair, and his large pale eyes angle slightly downward.

Like the other Imperial Scholars, he wears the Eden Academy uniform under a black cape with dark red lining, held together at the chest by a gold cord.

Secrecy and coldness run in the family, and Demetrius keeps a social circle so narrow it contains little beyond his fellow Imperial Scholars. He is stoic and sparing with words, speaking only when others address him first and never initiating an exchange, yet he comes across as honest and straightforward. Demetrius is an eighth-year at Eden Academy, placed in Cline Hall's Class 2. Before the series opens he had already collected eight Stella Stars for unspecified academic and athletic feats, securing his place among the Imperial Scholars; Damian's friends Ewen and Emile admire his accomplishments in a photo album and crown him a genuine MVP. His midterm paper comes back nearly perfect, which is exactly why the spy Daybreak targets it for sabotage in a scheme Loid quietly undoes, and the term finals bring him six Stellas at once, covering history, physics, biology, mathematics, and a pair of foreign languages.

Warmth toward his younger brother is in short supply. When Damian hopes their father might hear of his efforts, Demetrius agrees to pass the message along while warning him not to expect much from so busy a man. His full name reaches readers at different points across editions: the Japanese manga withholds it until Chapter 37, while the English translation and the exam paper shown in Episode 18 of the anime reveal it earlier. At home, the butler Jeeves calls him "Demmy."
