WISE, the intelligence agency of Westalis, concludes that a diplomat's fatal car crash in Ostania was an assassination by the East's far-right and dispatches its finest agent to uncover any plans for war. Fresh off a mission involving stolen toupee photographs, and after coldly ending a cover relationship, Twilight receives Operation Strix through a coded newspaper: get near Donovan Desmond, the guarded National Unity Party leader who surfaces only at social gatherings hosted by the elite school his son attends. Doing so means acquiring a wife and child and passing the school's entrance process, with the enrollment deadline a week away.

Settling in Berlint as the psychiatrist Loid Forger, he purchases a secure apartment and visits an orphanage, where a small girl named Anya hands him a finished crossword and wins his approval. What Loid cannot know is that Anya reads minds, pulled the answers straight from his head, and is thrilled to have landed a spy for a father. Life with a six-year-old immediately derails his planning; she gets lost in crowds, cries in public, begs for peanuts, and secretly plays with his transmitter, taunting the mafioso Edgar while pretending to be Twilight.

Edgar's crew ambushes the apartment and abducts Anya as leverage over the toupee photos. Loid infiltrates their hideout wearing the face of one of Edgar's own men, slips out with the girl, and confronts the fact that he risked everything to retrieve her, remembering he became a spy so that children would not have to cry. After sending Anya toward the police, he returns, rigs the building with flour traps, dismantles the gang, and warns Edgar off by revealing how much he knows about the man's daughter Karen. Loid takes Anya back for good, and armed with memorized answers she clears Eden's written exam. A post-credits letter deflates the celebration: stage two of admissions is a family interview, and both parents must attend.

WISE assigns Twilight Operation Strix, targeting Donovan Desmond through the school gatherings his son attends.

Twilight adopts the identity of psychiatrist Loid Forger and takes in Anya, unaware she is a telepath.

Anya's transmitter prank puts Edgar's mafia onto the household, leading to her kidnapping.

Loid tears down Edgar's operation, threatens him into silence, and chooses to keep Anya.

Anya passes the written entrance exam, but the second stage demands a family interview with both parents, and the Forgers have no mother.

The episode adapts pages 5 through 70 of the manga's opening chapter, with Kazuhiro Furuhashi handling both storyboard and direction and Tomomi Kawaguchi on screenplay. It premiered in Japan on April 9, 2022, with the English broadcast a week later.

Anime-original touches include Anya hiding beneath a café sign rather than a table, an added moment of Loid discovering her chimera doll, extra gunplay in the Edgar confrontation, the reveal that the poster Anya wanted was for Spy Wars, and a clearly shown though incoherent school letter. The opening song Mixed Nuts does not play in the episode itself, though its credits appear at the end alongside the ending theme Comedy.
