Under cover of night, men load caged dogs into a van as their leader, Keith Kepler, declares the preparations complete. The next morning Westalis Foreign Minister Brantz lands in Ostania to arrange an East-West summit, while the Forgers head to the Kemono Park pet shop to pick out Anya's promised reward. Anya balks at the intimidating guard dogs Loid prefers, and before the family can reach a nearby adoption event, a WISE contact signals new orders; Loid excuses himself with a feigned stomachache.

WISE has uncovered a plot against Brantz by a contingent of Berlint University students but cannot crack Kris, their captured member. Loid breaks him by masquerading as the arrested ringleader Keith and framing Kris as the plan's leader, panicking him into naming hideouts and revealing the method: explosives strapped to dogs, unleashed while the minister travels. The raids come up empty, but a car rental lead prompts Sylvia to brief Loid on Project Apple, a long-abandoned Ostanian experiment that bred animals of unusual intelligence for military purposes and the likely source of the terrorists' dogs.

At the adoption center, Anya locks eyes with a massive white dog and suddenly sees her own family from its point of view, a glimpse of things to come. Concluding Yor would never understand, she trails the animal into a building across the street, overhears Keith's cell plotting to reignite war and restore Ostania's dominance, and is caught listening at the door. The white dog saves her from Keith's attempt to silence her, and when word of the raids scatters the group, girl and dog flee together, Anya realizing her rescuer can see the future just as she can read minds. Their escape route loops back into Keith and his subordinate Kurt, but as Kurt moves to kill her, Yor arrives, primed for vengeance under the mistaken belief that Anya was snatched for a forced marriage.

Adapting Chapters 18 and 19, the episode opens the second cour with Yuusuke Kubo on storyboard and direction and Honoka Katou scripting, airing October 1, 2022 in Japan. It reorders the manga's two opening scenes, placing Keith's crew ahead of Brantz's arrival, and adds a Forger breakfast scene absent from the source.

Production design nods to real-world Germany: Brantz's plane resembles the Konrad Adenauer government aircraft and carries the word BUND, implying Westalis parallels West Germany as a federal republic. The Project Apple files also expand the manga's test-subject roster, adding crows and pigs.
