Episode 33

As the fireworks show draws the passengers topside, Yor guides Olka, Gram, and Zeb toward the third storage area where Matthew will hand them off to a rendezvous vessel. The group unknowingly walks past the Assassin Leader, whose nose picks their scents out of the air. With every corridor guarded, Yor routes them across the open deck, where a sniper's round grazes her arm as she yanks Olka aside. Assassins materialize on all sides, but Matthew's rifle cuts the ambush open and he blasts the lock off a hatch. Zeb absorbs a burst of gunfire meant for Olka, saved by the bulletproof vest under his shirt, and the family shelters below while Yor weighs down the cover with a crate.

What follows is a massacre timed to the pyrotechnics. Yor tears through killers armed with claws, gas, wire, and chakram while Matthew shoots down stragglers and erases the evidence behind her, chiding her only for the blood. The finale claims a baton wielder and a brawler with oversized fists before the survivors freeze, dumbfounded, as Yor complains about a jammed finger. Then the Assassin Leader talks just long enough for a swordsman to strike from hiding. Matthew is smashed into a wall and knocked cold, Yor's weapon is jarred loose to the deck below, and her body starts failing her. Told to withdraw if she fears dying, she instead confronts the fear itself: Matthew has warned that death would be reported to Loid as an emergency transfer, and even a changed haircut feels like a threat to her place in the family. Offered a cut of the bounty, she refuses, and in the depths of a battered daze she rediscovers her answer. She became an assassin to shield Yuri's carefree life, and the Forgers have now joined him as her reason. She stops the Leader's run at the hatch with a hurled earring, shatters the sword barehanded, takes a slash across the chest without slowing, and drives a ferocious kick into the swordsman, declaring the fight far from over.

The post-credits segment jumps to Berlint, where Yuri collapses mid-chase with a cold he blames on Yor's absence. Resting at an apartment arranged by his Lieutenant, he dreams of childhood: a feverish little Yuri, and a frantic young Yor whose remedies escalated from mountains of blankets to bee stings and a slain boar. Her homemade tea tasted vile, and the adult Yuri insists on the one commercial brand that recreates it, vomits it up, and tries to march straight back to work.

The Assassin Leader locates Yor's party by scent and springs a full ambush on the deck during the fireworks. Zeb shields Olka and Gram from gunfire with a hidden vest, and the Gretchers escape below a secured hatch. Yor and Matthew annihilate the assembled hitmen, but the Swordsman incapacitates Matthew and disarms Yor. In the crisis Yor recognizes her true motive, protecting Yuri's peaceful world and now the Forgers, and reenters the fight by breaking the Swordsman's blade with her bare grip. The flashback segment establishes how Yor's chaotic devotion shaped Yuri's sister worship and his vow to build a kinder world for her.

The episode adapts Chapters 51 through 53 plus Short Mission 6. The insert song "Garden" scores the battle between the Garden pair and the freelance assassins. The anime extends Yor's exchange with the Swordsman with extra evasions and expands her introspection with new imagery, including added scenes of the young Briar siblings. Because the Assassin Leader stands on Yor's right rather than her left as in the manga, she tears off her right earring to throw at him.
