Special Women's Military Unit

The term refers to the special combat formation of women that Ostania fielded during the late stage of its first war against Westalis. Female citizens originally served only within the Women's Defense Auxiliary, a rear-area organization, but deepening manpower shortages pushed the state to arm them directly, producing the front-line force known as the Women's Combat Battalion.

Volunteers received little more than rudimentary instruction before being sent into combat beside the 99th Regiment of the Ostanian People's Army. Months before the fighting ended, the unit was thrown into a major engagement to crack the Westalian ring around the city of Minth. Ostania won the battle, yet the formation was all but annihilated; the state later folded the sacrifice into its wartime propaganda while the soldiers' families grieved.

Martha Marriott is the unit's sole confirmed survivor, reaching Ostania again roughly a month after the war closed. No other members are identified by name in available material.
