Chapter 60

Sylvia hands Fiona an unusual assignment. Sergei Ostosky, an economics committee executive, has been illegally choking off strawberry exports to Westalis, and the resulting shortage left Foreign Minister Brantz's birthday cake berry-free and the minister furious. Fiona must defuse the situation before it snowballs into a diplomatic incident.

Needing a forged state seal for a fake export license, Fiona consults Loid at Berlint General Hospital, and he points her toward one of his assets. Watching him walk away, she gazes after him lovesick and vows to nail the mission for his sake. The asset's lair sits down a staircase in an alley, guarded by an electrified "service" button, a falling chalkboard eraser, and a gauntlet of similarly juvenile traps and riddles that Fiona clears with open contempt. At the end waits a gunman with a bag over his head: Franky, who whips off the disguise, flirts badly, and nearly drives her straight back out the door.

Franky offers to source the forged seal through a friend, but Fiona distrusts middlemen and threatens him with prison, relenting only when he points out she cannot reach the counterfeiter without him. The meeting is set outside a bar, where Franky insists they blend in as a clubbing couple. He delights in the fake date; she endures it, eventually threatening his life over his showboating. Inside, they find the counterfeiter known as the Quill, who takes one look at Fiona's terms and deadline and walks out.

The pursuit spills onto the street, where Fiona spots two SSS men shadowing them. When the panicking Quill nearly runs into an ambusher, she shoves him clear and drops the attacker with a kick, then flings a second knife-wielding man over her shoulder and deflects a shooter with a thrown blade while Franky tackles her out of the line of fire. She frames the rescue as a debt: take her offer as repayment. Franky's granular knowledge of the streets gets them clear through a tunnel, and he explains that he sides with no one, he simply finds Ostania's current state stifling and wants it shaken up. Later, at his tobacco stand, Franky delivers the forged papers and asks whether Fiona herself tipped off the SSS; she plays innocent. Impressed, she floats future jobs involving art forgers and safecrackers, but Franky declines, saying her methods would cost him his friends.

The strawberry crisis mission. Sylvia tasks Fiona with countering Sergei Ostosky's illegal export restrictions before Minister Brantz's rage becomes a diplomatic problem.

Fiona meets Franky. Loid's referral brings WISE's Nightfall face to face with his trap-happy intel man for the first time.

The Quill is recruited the hard way. An SSS ambush lets Fiona demonstrate her combat skills, converting the counterfeiter's refusal into cooperation.

Franky draws a line. He hands over the forgeries but rejects Fiona's offer of ongoing work, unwilling to burn his friendships for her ruthless approach.

Mission 60 is a 23-page Volume 9 chapter released on February 21, 2022, adapted in Episode 38 of the anime, with Sergei Ostosky, Sylvia, and Fiona on the cover. It marks the first reveal of Franky's surname, which he immediately admits is just one of his aliases.

The "Chicken × Bear" shirt Franky wears references Akari Nibu's "Bear & Chicken" shirt, and the bear's pose recreates Loid's chair pose from the Volume 1 cover. The in-story radio show parodies a real program hosted by Atsumi Tanezaki, Anya's Japanese voice actress, and the club name Tamaryba plays on the Japanese word for a hangout spot.
