Hisashi Ogura

Ogura has reached middle age, keeping his dark hair cropped short and wearing a mustache. Whenever the cameras roll for an interview, he presents himself in a proper business suit.

Attention is what Ogura chases. He poses as a learned authority on ghouls purely to keep himself in the media spotlight, and his manner turns boastful and thick with ego, once mocking a news crew member's credentials on the air. Yukinori Shinohara dismisses him as no real scholar, just a small-time figure who borrows other people's findings to look impressive. After Sen Takatsuki published King Bileygr, Ogura swung the other way, joining the crowd that praised ghouls as clever, fascinating beings and even sporting a headband stitched with the words ghoul lover.

Ogura's academic days were spent at Teihou University in its Ghoul Research Society, where he and his peers were introduced to Akihiro Kanou; privately he felt the doctor regarded them like insects. He first surfaced on television to discuss the murders attributed to the Binge Eater, and returned to the airwaves again after the bureau investigator Ippei Kusaba died in the 20th Ward. Once Eto Yoshimura publicly exposed herself as a ghoul, Ogura declined to comment on her book, explaining that his superiors had forbidden it. Later he approached Ken Kaneki and Goat as a representative of the Great Wheel Act when they sought aid for Akira Mado. During the Dragon crisis, Itsuki Marude called him in for questioning, and Hideyoshi Nagachika used the meeting to lay bare Kanou's background and motives.
