She made her home in a small fishing village on the coast of Japan. One night ghoul investigators came for her family, and she barely slipped away through the rain while carrying her infant son. Gravely wounded, she was found by Doctor Momochi, a woman who had come out to end her own life after losing her baby. The mother begged for help, and the two struck a heartbreaking bargain: the human took the living ghoul child in exchange for her own dead infant. Reassured that her son would live on, the mother ate a little of the dead child's flesh and then drew her hunters away from the pair. Newspaper reports the following day held that she had thrown herself from a cliff into the sea, while her son grew up as a human in place of the doctor's lost child.
