Kazuo Yoshida

Kazuo was a middle-aged man who wore his brown hair at chin length. His body was in fine shape, though people were quick to tell him his face was another story.

Trusting to a fault, he had little experience with women and rarely noticed the darker sides of those around him. His age nagged at him, and he calmed his nerves through exercise and repeated mantras; his final one was a hollow vow to one day get even, aimed more at his own shortcomings than at anyone else. His character diverges between adaptations. In the manga he guarded his meals jealously and threatened Kaneki, while in the anime he was courteous, asking after the boy and even offering him a share.

Kazuo coached at a fitness club and was granted a portion of Rize's old feeding ground by Yoshimura. Picking his next target and getting ready at home, he set out to hunt. He was in the middle of a meal in a dark alley when Kaneki, drawn by the scent of human flesh, stumbled onto him. Thrown by the boy's distress, he claimed the body as his own and demanded that Kaneki leave at once. Nishiki Nishio then appeared and finished him with a heavy kick to the head.
