Kiyoko Aura

A small mole sits just below the right corner of Kiyoko's mouth, one of the touches that soften her poised looks. She gathers her deep blue hair into a bun held by a white ribbon, letting a single strand hang on the left while tucking her fringe behind the right ear. Her eyes share that same dark blue shade, and she favors the sober suit worn throughout the investigator ranks.

On duty, Kiyoko carries herself with strict professionalism and speaks in measured, courteous tones. Set against her livelier colleagues, her calm composure reads as pure elegance and lends her a distinctly refined air. That formality eases once work is behind her, though, and time spent with her nephew reveals a warmer, more cheerful side she rarely shows on the job.

Long before the main events, Kiyoko trained at the Academy beside Kasuka Mado, and both earned reputations as women of rare skill; she left at the very top of her class with a long list of achievements. In the years that follow she appears repeatedly at Special Class meetings weighing the threat of Aogiri Tree and remarking on Kishou Arima's frequent absence.

During the raid on Cochlea she confronts Ayato Kirishima's group, dismissing them as rats before opening fire. Her quinque Zebizu, an S+ ukaku weapon shaped like a rocket launcher, sends homing missiles into Ayato and inflicts grievous damage, until Touka Kirishima's kagune throws back the finishing blow and leaves Kiyoko astonished at its strength. Splitting Zebizu into paired blades, she carves through the ghouls swarming her, only for Take Hirako to appear with his resignation in hand and turn on her. The clash stalls when Ken Kaneki declares himself the One-Eyed King, a claim that leaves her stunned.

The battle costs her dearly. Broadcasts count her among the badly wounded survivors, and unlike her partner Mougan Tanakamaru she remains hospitalized long afterward, having lost both legs below the knee. From her bed she frets over her nephew Shinsanpei and his hunger for revenge, asking Keijin Nakarai to keep him steady. Her later years take a gentler shape: she becomes headmaster of the Tokyo Security Committee's academy for peace officers, trains its recruits, and chooses to stay single for the rest of her life. Admired as the model female investigator, she is also a master of the dual-wielding Nitouryuu style, and she taught that craft to figures such as Kureo Mado, Arima, and Nakarai.
