Mirumo Tsukiyama

Refinement defines Mirumo's look. He carries himself as a distinguished gentleman of later years, his upper lip framed by a carefully kept moustache. Bespoke suits are his standard dress, and a pair of thin, round spectacles tends to hide his eyes from view. His hair is usually swept back, though he has also worn it neatly parted down the middle.

Even among ghouls, Mirumo stands out for living like aristocracy, and his taste for excess is legendary. Since the Anteiku raid left his son in a broken state, he has shown deep tenderness toward Shuu, fondly calling himself Papa. The family eccentricity runs through him as well: in moments of frustration he will fling open a window and shout, and he tends to voice his private thoughts aloud.

As head of the household he embodies the manners expected of a nobleman. Rather than trade blows, he would rather negotiate, and when defeat looks certain he is content to lay down his arms, as he does at the outset of the Tsukiyama Family Extermination Operation. That restraint has limits, though. When he learned his son's escape helicopter had been shot down, he broke out of custody and wrecked a CCG van. Generosity is central to him; he cheerfully poured family money into metal detectors during the Dragon crisis and later into rebuilding the ruined city, framing it as the Tsukiyama name coming to the nation's aid.

Mirumo first surfaces at the auction, where he clashes with Big Madam over the celebrated actor Yoshiki Ookura. He wins the bidding and courteously apologizes to his rival for the victory. When Tooru Mutsuki went up for sale, he joined the contest against Big Madam and Kanae von Rosewald before bowing out ahead of the final offer. After the venue was raided, he slipped away with his attendants, resolving to keep working toward his son's recovery despite losing his chance at fresh ingredients.

During the Rose extermination, cheered by his son's improving health, Mirumo took steps to shield him. As doves closed in on the manor, he laced Shuu's coffee with a sedative and ordered Matsumae to spirit the unconscious young man to safety. He then waited calmly in the lobby to receive Special Class Koori Ui, speaking with unfailing politeness even as the suspicious investigator eyed him with hostility. Declaring he would neither flee nor resist, he surrendered on the terms of finishing his days living as a human, and was led off in restraints. Matsuri Washuu noted he would be taken to Corniculum for interrogation. He resurfaced in the arc's climax alongside Touka Kirishima, Renji Yomo, and Chie Hori, who freed Shuu from investigators and escaped in a stolen van; Mirumo explained he had broken out on hearing the helicopter was downed.

He later helped Aogiri Tree executives and associates slip away during the operation on Rushima. In the Dragon arc he answered his son's request by furnishing vast numbers of detectors with the prime minister's backing, then quietly excused himself, exchanging a brief courtesy with Ui in passing. As a full ghoul he wields a koukaku kagune shaped like an irregular sword, coiled more tightly than his son's, and he possesses enough raw strength to break free of the CCG on his own.
