Shinsanpei Aura

Aura stands tall, his dark green hair falling in bangs long enough to hide his eyes. He sticks to ordinary office wear at headquarters and dons the standard Quinx cloak whenever he takes the field.

By nature he is timid and flustered when addressed, mindful of manners to the point of always speaking to his leader, Kuki Urie, by his proper title. That mildness sits beside a hardening vindictive streak, born of his fury over what befell his aunt and aimed squarely at Haise Sasaki. As time passes a genuine cruelty surfaces in him, seen in the ruthless way he cuts down Clowns and in the pleased smile that crosses his face when "Haise Sasaki" is put to death.

Aura debuts fighting Aogiri Tree beside his squad, cheering on Saiko Yonebayashi and keeping an eye on his teammates. Sent to Rushima, his unit is tasked with clearing ghouls from the beach and, days later, with hunting for Tooru Mutsuki. Arriving mid-battle between Mutsuki and a berserk Amon, the Quinx attack in formation; Aura drives his kagune into Amon's back, but the coordination falters, and the ghoul seizes his kagune, crushes it, strikes his face, and shears off his right leg. He recovers with his skills sharpened.

During the siege on the Clowns he slaughters his targets while Mutsuki eggs him on, and after stumbling upon Mutsuki assaulting Uta, he quietly covers for him, declaring he cares about nothing except killing Sasaki. When Kichimura Washuu stages the public execution of a false Sasaki, Aura alone smiles at the sight. Later, thrown into a clash with Kaneki, he dual-wields kagune and quinque and lands one heavy hit before Kaneki impales him through several points and leaves him helpless. His ukaku kagune forms a blade coiling around his arms and can be detached to lay traps, complementing his mass-produced bikaku quinque, Tsunagi.

Skipping Takeomi Kuroiwa's wedding, he instead visits Kiyoko in the hospital, tears back her sheets to bare her ruined legs, and vows that no day will bring him joy until Kaneki is dead. In the aftermath he keeps company with Mutsuki and idolizes his aunt for the rest of his days.
