Taguchi

Slight and small in build, Taguchi had brown eyes and matching brown hair that she usually gathered into a ponytail, letting chin-length strands frame her face while clips kept them clear of her eyes. On duty she wore the standard nursing outfit, a fitted white dress with a piped collar worn over white stockings and white shoes.

She had a warm bedside manner and showed genuine worry when she sensed a patient was struggling. That kindness, however, may have been partly a front, since she seems to have known about the ghoulification experiments run by her superior and misled Kaneki to keep him from pressing the doctor for answers.

As the nurse assigned to Kaneki, Taguchi noticed that he barely touched his meals, since everything tasted foul to him. When she asked about it and sampled the food herself, she found it perfectly normal. Later, when Kaneki returned to the hospital with companions, she told them Kanou was away at a research conference in Germany, then quietly alerted the doctor to the visit.

Her group grew suspicious of the lie and cornered her in a secluded spot once she left the building. An Aogiri Tree unit under Sachi then overran Kaneki's party and seized her. Afterward, Tatara was seen handing Naki a severed foot that appeared to be hers, following an interrogation over Kanou's whereabouts. Her surname pairs a character for a rice field with one meaning mouth or entrance.
