Touma Higemaru

Gloves cover his hands, an accessory borrowed from the style of his captain, Kuki Urie. Higemaru stands on the shorter side and keeps a mop of soft, wavy hair tinted pale pink. A pair of small moles sits beneath his eyes, a detail he happens to share with Urie as well.

Bright and lively, Higemaru brings an upbeat spark to his squad. He puts real effort into the work, rarely hesitating when an order comes down from those ranked above him.

Higemaru enters the story battling Aogiri Tree operatives beside his teammates, openly idolizing Urie and Saiko Yonebayashi while trading a prickly rivalry with Ching-Li Hsiao. When the CCG turns its attention to Rushima, his unit is sent to clear ghouls from the shoreline under Matsuri Washuu's command, and days into the sweep they are still combing the island for the missing Tooru Mutsuki.

The squad reaches Mutsuki mid-clash with a rampaging Koutarou Amon. Following Urie's coordinated plan, Higemaru drives his kagune through both sides of Amon's chest, but he crowds in too close and spoils Saiko's finishing strike, taking a blow that knocks him cold. He recovers to buy Shinsanpei Aura time, unleashing his frame three form, a longer scaled tail split at the tip, to briefly wrap and pin Amon's kakuja before another attack hurls him into a wall.

During the Clown Siege his team holds the line across several wards, and in the 2nd ward he helps beat back arsonists lobbing firebombs at the responders. There he meets his uncle, a firefighter, who asks Urie to guide the young man before Donato Porpora strikes the older Higemaru down. Reeling from his uncle's death and unaware his own right arm has already been severed, Higemaru is then maimed further by Donato as Urie struggles to intervene. Urie eventually pins the enemy and orders him to run; bleeding and shaken, he reaches Saiko and Hsiao to point them toward Urie before collapsing.

Once the siege ends he stands with the Quinx as the newly formed Oggai carry out executions, and later joins the group at Takeomi Kuroiwa's wedding. In the years that follow he devotes himself to raising the next generation of peacekeepers and helps tighten cooperation among the security committee, the police, and the fire services. His bikaku kagune resembles a clawed tail, potent enough to hold Amon at bay for a stretch even in his most desperate fights.
