After beating Serpent, Haise Sasaki pulls off the ghoul's mask to find Nishiki Nishio beneath it, who addresses him as Kaneki. The name unleashes a flood of buried memories that drives Sasaki toward madness, and as he begins to turn on his own CCG colleagues, Akira Mado sedates him. Once he steadies, Sasaki strips Kuki Urie of his Quinx Squad leadership and hands the role to Ginshi Shirazu. During a sparring session with his mentor Kishou Arima, he admits that his old recollections of Kaneki are resurfacing.

Torso is approached by Ayato Kirishima to join Aogiri Tree and immediately sees the offer as a chance to seize Tooru Mutsuki. Sasaki, Shirazu and Mutsuki open an investigation into a ghoul known as Nutcracker, notorious for mutilating her victims. When they stop at the cafe called :re, run by Touka Kirishima, Sasaki recognizes her and she recognizes him in turn. Her coffee stirs an uneasy nostalgia in him, moving him to tears, and he privately reflects that he has never seen anyone so lovely.

Nishiki, unmasked as Serpent, calls Sasaki by his old name and provokes a violent memory relapse that Akira has to suppress. Sasaki reorganizes the Quinx Squad, demoting Urie and promoting Shirazu, and confides his returning memories to Arima. Ayato recruits Torso into Aogiri, who plans to abduct Mutsuki. The hunt for Nutcracker begins, and Sasaki's visit to Touka's cafe stirs his suppressed past.

The title puns on "remember." It draws from three early Tokyo Ghoul:re chapters. The episode features the song "Remembering (We Meet Again)," performed by Tate McRae. As for adaptation changes, Sasaki does not touch his chin during his conversation with Arima.
