Rather than track the Quinx Squad, the episode widens its lens to the ghoul world, letting several factions mingle across the auction house.

Captive humans command staggering sums from the richest ghoul barons in attendance. The proceedings make clear that ghoul-run business empires operate on a vast scale, with multiple conglomerates said to pull in profits measured in the billions. The setting exposes the brutal economy underpinning ghoul society and the many powerful players circling it.

The ghoul auction gets underway with Mutsuki stranded and helpless on stage. The CCG's operation escalates into a large-scale brawl against Aogiri Tree. The episode surveys the ghoul world, showing captive humans auctioned to wealthy barons and revealing the enormous ghoul-run conglomerates behind the trade.

The title puns on "remain." The episode adapts a span of early Tokyo Ghoul:re chapters. In terms of adaptation, several investigators' gruesome deaths at ghoul hands are censored in certain scenes, and Atou's decapitation by Takizawa is shown only partially through a point-of-view shot rather than in full.
