Overview
Atou Squad was a unit within the CCG that fielded sixteen members. Its story is a grim one: after a single operation during the Auction arc, only one of those sixteen was left alive.
Role
During the Auction Mopping-up Operation the squad joined the frontal assault beside the Quinx Squad and Ooshiba Squad. Pushing in through the entrance, they cut down ghouls until they met Nutcracker's partner, a fairly tough koukaku type, and once the Quinx Squad was sent ahead, Atou Squad brought the creature down. The tide turned when Seidou Takizawa, newly revealed as a one-eyed ghoul, beheaded leader Daisuke Atou without warning and cut through the rest of the squad one after another. He trapped the final pair, Hina and Shougo, before killing Hina. Only a lone member came out of the operation alive, and where he was reassigned is left unknown.

The squad was led by Daisuke Atou with Yukio Kurodawara as his deputy, and included Tomonori Akai, Ryuuta Sawaike, Hina Tougi, and Shougo Kukiyama alongside ten unnamed members. Every one of its named investigators had been among the twenty winners of the ghoul investigator recruitment drive.
