Fueguchi One

Investigators of the Commission of Counter Ghoul carry Fueguchi One as a rinkaku class weapon, one shaped from the kakuhou of the ghoul Asaki Fueguchi. The blade extends into a broad, flattened lash lined with serrated teeth, and its body breaks into linked segments that call to mind the plating of an insect. Raw cutting power is its strong suit, letting the wielder carve through a target with little resistance. Later in the series it is referred to simply as Fueguchi.

For all its reach and destructive edge, the weapon proves awkward to control, and its chief flaw appears once the lash is stretched to full length. A quick enough opponent can rush the wielder during the moment it takes to draw the whip back in. Anyone who truly commands the quinque learns to cover that gap, which turns the liability into a non-issue. On occasion it is fielded beside its sibling weapon, Fueguchi Two.

The first to carry the blade was Kureo Mado, an investigator so devoted to his weapon collection that others called him a Quinque Maniac, and he adapted to its quirks almost at once. It then passed to his daughter, Akira Mado, who needed a full year before she could handle it well. The anime adds a strange moment in which the weapon soaks up the blood of Touka Kirishima, an ability that received no explanation and never surfaced again.
