Role

Their fortunes ended when Matsuri Washuu hunted them down, an operation carried out more than ten years before the main events that won him sizable acclaim. The bloodline links into the Tsukiyama family through Tsukuru Tsukiyama, who fathered a child with a Rosewald in Germany; that child went on to parent Kanae, so Tsukuru stands as her grandfather and the Rosewalds count as a Tsukiyama branch. Only Karren lived through the massacre. At nine she fled to Japan, where the Tsukiyamas took her on as a servant, and to keep a vow to her kin she disguised herself as a boy and adopted the name Kanae.
