The 137th chapter of Tokyo Ghoul delivers a devastating blow as the One-Eyed Owl maims Yukinori Shinohara before a horrified Juuzou Suzuya, whose memories of his mentor surface, while Ken Kaneki finally comes face to face with Kishou Arima.
Koori Ui swings Chi She at the One-Eyed Owl, but the creature answers with a storm of ukaku shards that overpower him and drive him back. The Owl then bears down on Yukinori Shinohara, severing his leg and devouring it while goading Juuzou Suzuya, who can only look on.
Juuzou recalls his time training under Shinohara, who used to scold him for harming civilians. Troubled by the boy's cruelty, Shinohara once asked Juuzou to first inflict on him whatever he meant to do to others in his anger, and he coached Juuzou through the promotion exam, which he cleared.
As the Owl plunges its attack into Shinohara's midsection, Juuzou cries out in anguish. Coming back to himself and finding Hide gone, Ken Kaneki turns to face Kishou Arima.
The Owl cripples Ui and tears off Shinohara's leg. Flashbacks show Shinohara mentoring and restraining a young Juuzou. Kaneki confronts Kishou Arima after Hide vanishes.
