Summary

Worn down by the cruelty of Yakumo Oomori, better known as Yamori, Ken Kaneki conjures a vision of Rize Kamishiro as a mental refuge from his ongoing torment. The apparition presses him with pointed questions, drawing his mind back through fragments of his upbringing, the lessons his mother once shared, and the string of hardships that shaped him.

The illusion fades the instant Yamori steps back inside, eager to test a fresh method of breaking his prisoner. He strips away the blindfold, and Kaneki finds his captor gripping Kei and Kouto. The chapter closes on a cruel ultimatum: Kaneki must decide which of the two will be killed.
