Chapter 92

Madam A hurries about her home in fear of Kaneki's group. A call she expected from Taguchi instead carries Kaneki's voice, thanking her for all she has done for him. As she dresses to flee, Kurona urges her to abandon her pets, warning that keeping them will get her captured.

Madam A drifts back to how she first met Kanou. One night, bemoaning her lack of money and longing for the extravagant world of upper-class ghouls, she crouched behind bushes to wait for prey. A passerby who looked like a doctor caught her eye, and hoping to seize some wealth, she approached him. The instant she lunged, a shadowy figure blocked her path, and she nervously wondered whether the guard was human or ghoul. Kanou asked whether she might be interested in owning breeders and promised her a richer life. Through his arrangements she came into ample money and built ties among the elite of the Ghoul Restaurant.

She races with Kurona to a cargo depot in search of Kotaro and Shouta, only to find Tsukiyama perched atop their corpses inside a container. The door slams shut and seals them in, but Kurona slices the metal open with her kagune to let them out. Banjou and the Gas Masks move to ambush them, yet Kurona snatches Madam A up in her kagune and dashes off. Hinami watches over the container lot and, with her sharp eyes, directs Ichimi, Jiro, Sante, and Kaneki. Kurona and Maiko are hemmed in by the group, and following Kanou's instruction to value her own life above all in danger, Kurona flees and leaves Madam A behind. Kaneki steps up to her and coolly asks whether she knows what sound a centipede makes when it is slipped into an ear.

Over at Anteiku, Yoshimura chides Roma Hoito for stirring sugar into coffee, since sweetener is for human tongues rather than ghouls, and Roma volleys back with a pun. Shinohara and Suzuya then step into the shop, admiring the elegant cafe where Kaneki once worked.

A flashback shows Kanou recruiting Madam A into the breeder trade that made her fortune. Tsukiyama's ambush at the cargo lot forces Kurona to cut an escape, but the group corners the pair and Kurona abandons Madam A to save herself, delivering the Madam into Kaneki's hands.

The tenth-volume chapter carries the Japanese title 淑女 (Shukujo), meaning Lady. It fleshes out Madam A's origins while closing the trap Kaneki has been building around her throughout the arc.
