Dropping from the lamp post he had perched on, Uta lunges at Juuzou Suzuya from behind. Juuzou pivots with a blade to the throat and rakes him repeatedly with 13's Jason, noting that his opponent offers no resistance. Reeling in apparent pain, Uta suddenly wears the face of Yukinori Shinohara, and the stunned investigator freezes as the ghoul pulls him into a close embrace, patting his back and murmuring that he need not be so rash.

Just as Uta prepares to strike with his kagune, Hanbee Abara reaches them and splits the disguised face straight down the middle. Miyuki Mikage steadies Juuzou, who recalls his days with Shinohara and admits he seized up the instant that face appeared, since people naturally cling to their fondest hopes. Juuzou then instructs Keijin Nakarai to warn the S3 Squad that humans hide among the Clowns and that anyone who does not fight back should be spared, while Mizurou Tamaki reflects on the twisted mind behind the whole scheme.

Having framed out, Kuki Urie throws himself at Donato Porpora, who taunts him as a wretched child still waging war over Mikito Urie's death and blaming every hardship on his father. Urie counters that becoming an investigator was his own choice, yet Donato keeps needling him, insisting he only wanted his father's approval and hated the man for dying and abandoning him. Furious, Urie runs the ghoul through, but the figure crumbles to nothing, and far away the real Donato watches a finger of his disintegrate, revealing that Urie had battled a clone grown from it. Losing his grip on himself, Urie screams for help.

Kaneki, Ayato Kirishima, Seidou Takizawa, and Kurona Yasuhisa press deeper into the CCG Laboratory. Takizawa catches the scent of Rc suppressants and knows they are near. At a door, Ayato gauges the number of researchers inside while admitting his sensing falls short of Hinami Fueguchi or Miza Kusakari, and Kaneki severs the wiring to plunge the room into darkness before the four bind all eight staff. Inside they find the suppressants in a canister whose stench sickens Kaneki and makes Takizawa retch. Ayato marvels at the volume of the drug as children float in containers labeled Rize 77, 78, 79, and beyond. A researcher named Chieko bolts from hiding toward the exit, Takizawa halts her, and she slams a button that wakes a chamber holding Koutarou Amon, whose single eye opens into a kakugan.

Uta weaponizes Shinohara's likeness to paralyze Juuzou, forcing the CCG to grapple with the fact that living humans are hidden inside the Clowns. Urie's rage is spent on a mere finger-grown clone of Donato, and the strain shatters his composure. The laboratory raid uncovers a stockpile of Rc suppressants and rows of Rize-labeled children, but Chieko's desperate move unleashes the imprisoned, transformed Amon.

Titled That, written 其れ and read as Sore, this is the one hundred tenth chapter of Tokyo Ghoul:re. It was carried in the 2017-10 issue on February 2, 2017, within the tenth volume. The chapter closes on Amon's reappearance and exposes the CCG's disturbing experiments beneath the laboratory.
