:re Chapter 31

Torn between the battle in his mind and the one against Takizawa, Sasaki finally speaks face to face with his projected Kaneki and confesses his fears about the past. When the monstrous figure he always imagined shrinks into a frightened child begging not to be erased, Sasaki understands that Kaneki dreads disappearing as much as he does and resolves to protect him. In the real world he bites off Takizawa's ear and, in a surge of strength, impales his opponent as the two collapse to a draw.

Before Hinami can react, S3 Squad members close in. The chapter reveals that during the operation this squad had guarded a quinque steel shipment, repelled an Aogiri ambush, and rushed to Zeum hall as reinforcements, driving Aogiri, the Clowns, and the Tsukiyama loyalists to flee. Ayato is dragged away by Naki despite wanting to reach Hinami.

Exhausted and injured, Hinami resigns herself to death as Kishou Arima approaches, but Sasaki staggers over and pleads with him to stop. Claiming credit for defeating Hinami, Sasaki asks for the ownership rights, and Arima simply summons a medical team. Watching his childlike inner Kaneki press a finger to his lips, Sasaki keeps the lie, sparing Hinami while elsewhere Kuroiwa is praised and a robed giant is found among the dead near the ambushed convoy.

Sasaki accepts and vows to protect his inner Kaneki, and his duel with Takizawa ends in a draw. The S3 Squad, revealed to have repelled a separate Aogiri raid, forces the ghouls to retreat. Sasaki lies to Arima that he killed Hinami, securing her survival. A cannibalistic robed giant is discovered near the convoy site.

Titled ピュート in Japanese, read as Pyuto and localized as Repute, the chapter runs twenty pages in the third volume and debuted in issue 2015-27 on June 4, 2015. The word piyyut denotes a Jewish liturgical poem in the Hebrew tradition.
