Summary

As Matsuri Washuu watches over Luna Eclipse, Eto tears through his helicopter on her way to the top of the building. Quick enough to respond, Matsuri fires his hook into the structure and swings himself in through a window.

Eto drops on Haise Sasaki from overhead and hits him with a crushing blow that throws him clear of Kanae. Emerging from her kakuja, she briefly belittles his strength, then commands Kanae to strike him with everything he has. Kanae launches into a savage beating, and the blows to Sasaki's head drive him back into his own mind. Elsewhere, Shirazu keeps fighting Noro, running through the fates of every squad that has faced the ghoul before charging straight at him. Ui, meanwhile, discovers the remains of the Ihei and Kijima squads and grieves over Hairu's death as he remembers their time together. He finds Furuta seemingly injured and questions him, and Furuta lies that Kijima gave his life while the others were slain by Tsukiyama's bodyguards. A flashback shows an investigator swearing to keep silent about what Furuta had done, and that Furuta murdered him too. Once Ui walks off, Furuta breaks into private laughter.

Deep in his subconscious, Sasaki faces Kaneki, who taunts him by asking if this is how he meant to protect him. Sasaki reaches out and seizes him by the throat, and as he chokes him, his sealed memories flood back. He remembers the abuse he suffered from his mother as a boy and, seated atop a tower, hears Kaneki declare that his salvation lies in dying in style. When Sasaki asks whether that is truly his salvation and Kaneki agrees, he accepts his past and resolves to stop dreaming.
