History
Arngrim made his home on the Shetlands with his wife and their baby son, Karli. Only days before Thorfinn's crew put in at the village, a raid swept through and he was stabbed to death. Leif came upon his body soon after the crew landed, and Thorfinn found his wife still barely alive; she pressed the infant Karli into his arms before she died.
According to Arngrim's cousin, the attack had most likely been arranged by the Gisli family, rivals with whom his household had been locked in a feud for years.
