History
Canute dispatches Brodd alongside a party of men to inform Olmar that the king has refused to number him among his thegns. Their orders reach further than the message itself: they are to needle the young man until he lashes out. None of them realize an assassin trails the group. As the confrontation heats up, the killer flicks a coin that strikes Brodd square in the eye, and in the chaos Olmar runs him through with a sword. The staged death gives Canute the excuse he wants to turn on Ketil and take his lands.
