Ganglati

Big and broad, Ganglati is red-haired, with a dense red beard and a red bandana knotted over it. A purple tattoo shaped like a triangle covers his face, reaching from the center of his forehead down to each cheekbone.

Ganglati is entirely mute. Loyal to Ivar and Styrk, he keeps near the pair and follows whatever they order without a single grumble, serving the band as its raw muscle.

Long ago, Ganglati farmed his own land beside Ivar and Styrk until Halfdan took it from them, and the three have worked for him ever since, hoping to win their fields back one day. When Thorfinn called for people willing to make a home in Vinland, Ganglati fell in behind Ivar and Styrk and joined up, and he was the one who slipped a sword aboard the ship unseen.

In Vinland he stuck by them just as before, doing only what he was told, such as pinning Cordelia down when she moved to warn Thorfinn of the smuggled blade. Once non-Lnu natives under Ga'aoqi assaulted the settlement, he went with Ivar and Styrk to guard the survivors, and when arrows flew he made his body a shield for Ivar, dying as one of them buried itself in the back of his skull. The precise tie between Ganglati and the other two is never confirmed, though Styrk once called Ivar his brother, hinting the trio might be siblings. In Norse legend, Ganglati serves the goddess Hel, ruler of the dead, and his name translates as tardy or lazy walker.
