Oddny

Oddny has blonde hair and brown eyes. The manga and the anime each give her their own take on the design, yet both keep her a warm, ordinary presence at Olmar's side. Though she features in the manga, she goes unnamed there; the name Oddny originates with the anime adaptation.

The series draws her lightly, revealing her mostly through her attachment to Olmar. Affectionate and forgiving, she stays devoted to him even as his temper and self-pity push her away, and she ultimately seems to prize him for himself rather than for any wealth his family once held.

Oddny is first shown resting with Olmar after the two have been together, only for the mood to sour as he grumbles about being treated by neighboring families as nothing more than a marriage prospect meant to secure his father's farm. Her attempt to coax him back into bed backfires when he spots her parents waiting outside with exactly that match in mind, and he storms off, leaving her in tears.

The anime closes their thread on a softer note. An older Olmar and Oddny are seen tending the farm's fields side by side as she murmurs a brief prayer, a sign the couple reconciled. With Olmar's fortunes much diminished after his dealings with King Canute, her return reads as a choice made out of love rather than any hope of sharing his riches.
