History
Hyuga holds the rank of First Lieutenant and works Central Dogma's command post as part of a trio of bridge officers, alongside Shigeru Aoba and Maya Ibuki, answering directly to Commanders Ikari and Fuyutsuki. When the Angel Matarael assaults headquarters, his fast decisions and nerve help carry the base through the attack. He later acts as Misato's private informant, feeding her intelligence about the machinations NERV keeps hidden behind its official mission.
The End of Evangelion lays his unspoken feelings bare: during Instrumentality, Rei, merged with Lilith, comes to him wearing Misato's form and kisses him passionately as his body gives way into LCL. In the spin-off manga Gakuen Datenroku, he appears as a modern literature teacher whose classroom job is cover for his true work as a NERV member.
