Dark of hair and eye, Silat cuts an exotic figure that Guts once likened to a circus performer, all acrobatic flourish and theatrical flair. The guidebook lists him at roughly 182 centimeters and 75 kilograms, and by the Fantasia era he is around twenty-five. He fights with a showman's poise, announcing his strikes aloud as he wields a spread of Indian-styled arms.

At first Silat is brashly arrogant, dismissing Midland's fighters as poorly trained and beneath him. Two defeats at Guts' hands humble that pride into caution and watchfulness, so that years later he warns his men off a swordsman who had just felled five Kushan scouts in one sweep. Above his ego sits a deeper drive: the longing to reclaim the glory his Bakiraka clan once held and secure a homeland where they might live in peace.

He carries open contempt for Rakshas, a former clansman whose gleeful bloodlust disgusts him. Though he admits the Bakiraka surrendered their pride when they turned to assassination, he remains proud of both his skills and his people. Having glimpsed what he calls an inscrutable current running beneath events, he comes to question whether it is right to surrender oneself to something so vast and unknowable, and that doubt shapes his refusal to simply bind himself to any master.

Silat ranks among the strongest human warriors of Midland and Kushan alike. He swept aside every challenger in the tournament where he debuted, overpowered Casca, and cut down trained members of the Band of the Falcon, faltering only against Guts. His arsenal runs to katars, chakrams, and whirling urumi blades, handled with speed and agility that let him snatch thrown weapons and exploit air physics mid-fight. He later held his own twice against Rakshas, slicing away the apostle's mask, though it was Rickert's improvised bazooka that seemingly finished the exile.

His long arc traces the Bakiraka's search for a place in the world. Serving Ganishka to earn his clan's restoration, he scouts for the reborn Griffith with a guard of tapasa, witnesses the emperor's monstrous transformations, and declines an offer to join the Falcon's cause, unwilling to yield to yet another inhuman ruler. After Falconia rises he allies with Rickert against Rakshas, shielding the boy for the knowledge he holds, and ultimately kneels before the new Kushan emperor to be named general and supreme commander, rallying the capital against Rakshas and the trolls of a manifesting Qliphoth.
