موتشي موتشي نو مي

Classed as a Special Paramecia, this fruit grants the power to generate, command, and turn into mochi. Jinbe first identified its unusual category, and Charlotte Katakuri is the one who ate it. The Japanese mochi is a chewy rice cake pounded from sticky glutinous rice, while the doubled mochimochi is an onomatopoeia for springy, doughy textures. The fruit itself is creamy white with the standard swirl, pinching inward toward its base before flaring into a flat foot that recalls a swollen rice cake, topped by a green stem. Katakuri swallowed it at age five, forty-three years before the present, and was originally meant to gain flour powers from a scrapped Logia called the Kona Kona no Mi.

Katakuri can transform any part of his body into a thick, intensely viscous white paste that he molds freely, hardening it into chosen shapes. Coated in Armament Haki the mochi becomes a brutal blunt weapon and an inescapable snare even for the very strong, dense enough to stop high-caliber gunfire outright. Its malleability lets him form fists, feet, tendrils, spiked clubs, walls, and elaborate structures. What sets it apart from ordinary Paramecia is its Logia-like quality: blows not laced with Armament Haki simply pass through and reshape into mochi that reforms afterward, so he can shrug off bisection and reassemble. As an awakened user he extends this further, converting inorganic matter around him into mochi to widen his attacks and bind enemies. The paste does have limits. Enough liquid strips away its stickiness, as when Jinbe doused Katakuri's leg with black tea to free Luffy, and the substance is edible when not actively controlled, letting a big eater chew through it unless it is hardened past biting.

His mastery leans on elite Observation Haki, which lets him pre-read strikes and warp his mochi body so Haki-imbued attacks slice through empty air. He must stay composed to keep this reading sharp, or he becomes as vulnerable to Haki as any fruit user. The fruit is often likened to the Gomu Gomu no Mi for its stretchiness, and Katakuri exploits that by mimicking and improving on several of Luffy's own moves.

Charlotte Katakuri is the wielder, controlling huge volumes of mochi with fine precision in combat and using extended limbs to strike or to rescue siblings like Brulee and Galette. He has fashioned mochi earplugs against his mother's scream and plugged cannons to make them burst. His named attacks include Yanagi Mochi, a willow-like spread of stomping tendrils; Mochi Tsuki, a drilling trident thrust; Kaku Mochi, squared and hardened punching fists; Yaki Mochi, a friction-ignited launched fist; and his finisher Zan Giri Mochi, a spinning donut-shaped charge into a spiked, slamming forearm. His awakened repertoire, drawn from converted terrain, features Nagare Mochi, Kagami Mochi, Amadare Mochi, and the donut-themed Muso Donuts with offshoots like Chikara Mochi and Mochi Ginchaku. The fruit was first printed as a Logia before the volume release reclassified it as a Special Paramecia.
