This Paramecia power gives its bearer the ability to rot and break metallic objects, turning them into a so-called Rust Human. Marine Captain Shu ate it. The fruit's name derives from the Japanese word for rust, and the VIZ and Funimation versions render it as the Rust-Rust Fruit. Its chief demonstrated trick is corroding metal weapons such as swords through a single touch, which hands the user a clear edge against blade-wielding foes.

By gripping a metal weapon, the user oxidizes it until it falls apart, as Shu did when he caught and instantly destroyed Zoro's sword Yubashiri. The anime expands the power considerably: there it grants a standing defense against blades, since any sword brushing the user simply rusts and disintegrates before it can cut, and the corrosion can also be turned on living flesh. That fleshly rusting appears reversible so long as the body is not fully oxidized, as Zoro returned to normal once Shu's grip was knocked loose. The power has limits, though, offering no protection against fiery projectiles and overwhelming the user when too much metal is involved, as when a massive metal colossus controlled by Douglas Bullet swatted Shu aside. The standard Devil Fruit weaknesses also apply.

Shu, a Marine captain, is the fruit's sole user, and he applies it both defensively and offensively. His signature feat was catching Zoro's Yubashiri bare-handed and rusting it to ruin almost instantly. Despite his advantage over a swordsman like Zoro, Shu was defeated by Usopp, whose ranged projectile attacks bypassed the fruit's metal-focused powers entirely.
