Valentine's Day Time

Racing to recover the weeks lost to the class's earlier turmoil, Korosensei rushes his students through Christmas and New Year in a blur. With little more than a month remaining before both graduation and his own deadline, the pupils turn their thoughts toward what comes next. Most already know which high school they want. Karma chooses to remain at Kunugigaoka, partly to needle the main-campus crowd and partly because sparring academically with his rival Gakushu Asano keeps him engaged. Nagisa, by contrast, has no vision of himself beyond the university his mother prefers.

Clarity arrives during a tutoring visit at the nursery. When Sakura senses his distraction and presses him, Nagisa confesses his uncertainty, and she answers plainly that he was always a teacher to her, ever since they met. The remark lands like a revelation, the way a rescued child later dreams of becoming a doctor. As he heads off to sit his entrance exam, Korosensei cheers him on before dashing away to root for everyone else. Nagisa still has one final careers meeting ahead to settle whether teaching is truly his path.

Once Valentine's Day arrives, Karma and Nakamura catch Kayano tucking a piece of chocolate beneath her desk. She waves it off as mere courtesy until Karma flashes a phone photo of Nagisa kissing her, leaving her mortified. The two schemers, delighted to have found a couple worth teasing, resolve to coach her. To do so, they trail their classmates for lessons in showing affection: Sugino slams his head against a pole over Kanzaki's gift, Chiba and Hayami trial chocolate-shaped bullets, Hazama hands her friends a list that Terasaka likens to a curse, and Karma sulks that he never got to slip Okuda's poisoned candy into Terasaka's shoe locker. They also spot Kataoka delivering a bulk-bought sack of chocolate to Isogai for his younger siblings, the pair both aiming for the same state school.

Come evening, Kayano pulls Nagisa aside but loses her nerve and instead asks about his future. She reasons aloud that he will become a teacher, since he looks up to Korosensei not as a target but as an educator. Remembering how his gentle bloodlust once filled the emptiness left by her sister's death, she hands him the chocolate and thanks him for standing beside her all year, stunning him. Watching from a distance, Nakamura quietly accepts she can no longer pry Nagisa away, while Karma admits he distracted Korosensei with a planted photo of Ms. Yukimura in a swimsuit, a trick so effective he wishes he had tried it on an assassination attempt.

Elsewhere, Chairman Asano reflects on Yukimura's promise as a teacher and offers Korosensei a permanent post should he survive the deadline, an offer the octopus gratefully declines. Over dinner, Irina warns Karasuma that the world will not stop hunting their target, and he confirms that a government plan is already forming that he will not fully learn until the final hour. He gently suggests Irina leave assassination behind for intelligence work, and his mention of no churches near his home makes her realize he is inviting her to live with him.

The episode first aired in Japan on May 26, 2016. It adapts material from Chapter 154, Chapter 155, Chapter 159, and Chapter 160. Several manga beats were cut for the broadcast: the quarrel between Maehara and Okano, the sequence of the rebuilt Reaper leveling a building, and the character Craig Houjou all go unmentioned. One small staging change has Sugino headbutt an electric pole rather than a tree when Kanzaki's chocolate overwhelms him.
