History
Together with his wife, Mr. Arlert attempts to escape beyond the Walls by air, and both are killed for it by Djel Sannes of the Military Police Brigade. Their son Armin grows up believing something else entirely; early in the story he claims Titans killed his parents in the failed campaign to retake Wall Maria, even though the balloon flight predates the breach of the Walls, a contradiction the series never resolves. He is the son of the elderly man who raises Armin, known only as Grandfather Arlert.
