Rose Fritz

Roughly two millennia before the main story, Rose is born to Fritz, king of Eldia, and Ymir, the enslaved concubine who became the first of all Titans; Maria and Sheena are her sisters. When an attempt on the king's life leads to Ymir's death, Fritz immediately commands the three girls to consume their mother's corpse, refusing to let her power vanish from the world. The grim meal works, and each daughter comes away carrying the Titan power.

Rose presumably lends her strength to her father's campaigns as Eldia swells into an empire. On his deathbed the king lays out her obligation: bear all the children she can, and let them eat her spine when she dies, a cycle every generation must repeat so that Eldia's reign over the world never ends.

Through her mother's corpse Rose acquires the power of the Titans, placing her among the earliest Intelligent Titans in history. The story records nothing specific about her Titan form. After her death the power passes to unknown successors, and across the generations the inheritance splinters into the Nine Titans that go on serving Eldia.

More than 1,800 years after Rose and her sisters die, Karl Fritz raises three ringed barriers on Paradis Island, each formed from countless Colossus Titans, and names them for Ymir's daughters. The middle barrier becomes Wall Rose, fixing her name at the heart of the shrunken Eldian homeland.
